The utter gracefulness and gentle nature of the giraffe has inspired wildlife artist Jos Haigh to paint this piece, called Blissful Beaux. Jos Haigh has used her artistic licence to capture this bliss in a soft heavenly blue under African skies. Tender eyes with long lashes look at you.

“Oh, to see those giraffes gently galloping across the plains of Africa, a wondrous sight for a child” Wildlife artist Jos Haigh spent her childhood in Kenya and enjoyed the wonderful drive from Nairobi to the coast Mombasa as a child. It was a long long drive, some twelve hours in those days. (Ha! Jos is not as young as you’d think, you know!) However the journey was never boring because it was always full of adventure as the road wound through the famous Tsavo National Park. And why was it famous? Yes, the man-eating lions of Tsavo, frequently attacked the construction workers of first railway in Kenya. The route also passed over the Athi River where “a body” was found half eaten by crocodiles - it used to give Jos and her brothers the shivers as they went over the bridge. They never know whose body it was, but they did make up endless stories over it.
The point of this story is that as a child, Jos was never bored as the plains of Tsavo was full of African wildlife. Giraffes in particular enraptured Jos Haigh, how they used to stop grazing to stare in wonder at a car approaching, then suddenly realised with astonishment that this was not “normal” and galloped off in long loping strides, sometimes even crossing the road way way ahead.

This painting is special because although the giraffes are painted in mellow colours, the intense black Indian ink on the hair, mane and eyelashes give this painting movement and texture.

These two giraffes were captured having a quiet moment, in the early morning, surrounded by misty swirls of dew. Jos Haigh painted them in soft blue of the sky before the heat of the day sets in. Before the battle with other giraffes for your mate sets in. Before the fight for survival begins.
Have you been inspired by the tall elegance of the giraffe? Then this painting is for you. Cherish the memory in your home. Make it part of your life. Make it an heirloom for your children.

This painting should take pride of place on a main wall, it is majestic and will bring that majesty to your home. It commands attention and joy. You need to buy the leather chair to go with it too!

If you crave peace and calm, you will love it. Jos asks herself “what expression do I love?”. Life these days seems so hectic and busy that, as an artist, she sometimes feels she needs to crawl into the mood of the animal she is painting, to seek out the animal’s peace and joy in its land. So what expression does she love? Sometimes funny, sometimes fierce. But this time, gentle calm.

Many art lovers have found Jos Haigh’s work from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, for which she is a valued Partner Artist. Her clients express much joy at seeing the artwork on their walls. They particularly love her flamboyant style which is characterised by instant recognition of the animal in vivid startling colours. People appreciate the high quality of the framing. A deep ivory mount, bespoke framing and the crystal clear non-reflective glass are the hallmarks of many of Jos’s framed pieces. Non-reflective glass though expensive, is worthwhile to ensure that her artworks maintain their vibrancy and do not fade with time.

Wildlife artist Jos Haigh has recently sold a tall pink giraffe painting to a family that simply adores giraffes. She personally delivered the painting and was astonished by the many giraffe things all around the home. Jos considered it an honour that her artwork was chosen to be among them.
“My wife loves Giraffes! When I say loves we have a huge number but we don’t have any any paintings, pictures or other art! That problem is now solved in the most magnificent way! Maryanne has joined our crazy giraffe family and quite frankly I can’t imagine how we lived without her. Jos you are incredibly talented and it is a privilege to have one of your paintings, and in my opinion the best one!”
