• After a hike in Yorkshire amid gentle cows you can guess that this painting is named Hazy Jane, after the beer that inspired the warm caramel colours of this curious cow.  Summer skies reflected on her back.  Mellow eyes gently glancing away. Note the heart twinkle in her eye…

  • Though Jos’s family is originally Catholic from a place called Goa, in India, she has frequently visited India on holidays and admired, even cherished, the harmony with which various communities lived together.  Anyone who has been to India will be familiar with the cow casually strolling along a busy road, with cars slowly driving around it.  The cow is a sacred animal to the Hindu culture because it represents life, motherhood, and the sacred cycle of birth and rebirth. Non-violence is a critical value of Hinduism, and the cow because of its gentle nature and role in providing milk to humans reflects the broader Hindu ideals of compassion and respect for all life forms.

The very first artwork she ever bought was of cows. She bought was when she had a saved some money when she first started working. She had no house, no walls, just a bit of money. Jos was working for a pharmaceutical company whose headquarters was in Philadelphia, and after work she wandered into the National Geographic store and was mesmerised by a huge colourful painting of three moo cows, which she carried back to London rolled up in a large cardboard tube, under her arm. It still hangs in her home to this day.

  • This cow painting has a special feature of crackle texture on its horns to give it a three dimensional look.

It also has a gentle heart shape twinke in its eye.

  • This painting will moo-tivate you in your life! Wildlife artist Jos Haigh simply loves cows. Many people think of them as dozy and boring. Not Jos. To her they are confident, self-assured, even slightly aloof. She loves it when they stop grazing to look up at you with those large dewy eyes, then get bored and bend down to graze again. If you are confident, self-assured this painting is for you. If you’re not, then for goodness sake just buy it cause you’re not! Ha.

  • Anywhere where there is lots of rustic wood to bring out her rustic mellowness. Or an elegant room with a dark wall and a snazzy chair. Or where you like to snuggle down and stop and stare.

The artwork is small, beautifully framed and indeed will look great on a side wall, or mixed with other paintings.  Jos wonders if she may be so bold to suggest it pairs well with her other cow painting, Nora Batty, framed in a similar style.

  • Wildlife artist Jos Haigh appreciates that the cow is not wild, but she is wild about them.  Have you ever been to Yorkshire? Wales? Anywhere? Seen the wonderful cows gazing at you.  If it fills your heart with mellow madness, then this painting is for you.  With sunshine on your back, and an ooh arrr in your voice, it’s yours! You will love it because it’s mellow madness at its best.

  • Many art lovers have found Jos Haigh’s work from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, for which she is a valued Partner Artist.  Her clients express much joy at seeing the artwork on their walls. They particularly love her flamboyant style which is characterised by instant recognition of the animal in vivid startling colours. People appreciate the high quality of the framing. Deep ivory mounts with a shimmering (cerise. in this case) hand-painted edge, bespoke framing and the crystal clear non-reflective glass are the hallmarks of many of Jos’s framed pieces. Non-reflective glass though expensive, is worthwhile to ensure that her artworks maintain their vibrancy and do not fade with time.

  • What goes round comes round in many ways. One of Jos Haigh’s large paintings of three cows, named Ey Up Buttercup was recently bought by someone near Philadelphia (where Jos bought here first cow painting) in the United States, who first found her work at the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation website. She was looking for wildlife paintings and was wowed by Jos Haigh’s moo cows.

  • Hell yeah! She has great feedback, not only from being a creative artist but also because she is a good person to buy from - understanding, trying to meet your needs as much as she can.
