The story…

Fun factoid: Vultures urinate on their legs and feet to cool off on hot days, a process called urohydrosis. Their urine also helps kill any bacteria or parasites they’ve picked up from walking through carcasses or perching on dead animals

Well I thought that would at least raise a smile. They are wonderful birds, living their life as best they can, clearing away carcasses and debris and looking magnificent in the air. This one is about to land, and I love the spray of flowers on the feathers and the flow of their huge wings in the swirling air. I’ve decided to embelish the mount with flying feathers and branches. This bird just ain’t big enough for the both of us!

As Chris Packham says “I believe the best things in life are birds.  But then I have to say that whilst all birds are equal, some birds are more equal than others!  Such as the red kite.”

I think he’s wrong, the vulture, who is much maligned, is certainly more equal than others with its stupendous wings and keen sense of survival.
